Pool maintenance | 1 Dog

Our dog Lucy is an Australian Shepherd. She's pretty lazy when she's at home and generally sleeps under the bed or in her recliner. She's very friendly and loves being around people. She will go pee in the fully fenced backyard but she won't stay outside, she wants to be where the people are. She absolutely loves walks, so she will need one walk sometime before noon and another after 6pm. That's also the time she poops since she doesn't like doing that in her own yard for some reason... She's fine to be left alone for 6 hours after she's had a walk. She doesn't have any diet restrictions or medications, but we give her a glucosamine chew daily, which she enjoys. She's very smart and knows a lot of words/commands. You can set the rules if you want her to jump in bed with you or not. She will gladly cuddle if you allow her to.

We'll be out of town September 22-25 and would like to find someone to watch Lucy in our home. Dates are flexible, you can arrive early or leave later, or match our itinerary for 4 days. The guest room will be available as needed, just let us know what you're thinking.

House

We are offering guests a large stand alone house that's 4km (2.8 miles) from the center of Mons. There is a beautiful canal with walking trail near the house, a bakery, and a lovely quiet neighborhood that's still near enough to the grand mall and city of Mons. There is a private guestroom with queen size bed, dresser, armoire, and bookshelf. There are two bathrooms and two toilets - guests can choose to use the guest bathroom or the main one. The kitchen is well equipped with an induction stovetop, microwave, toaster, Nespresso, panini press, and fridge/freezer. There is a pool for the warmer months, along with a grill and patio table/chairs. There is a 75” TV with an Apple TV connected so you can sign into Netflix or use our subscription services in the guest account. WiFi is very fast and you can setup your computer in a small office or wherever you choose. There is a bus stop across the street, trains at the Mons station, and we can negotiate potential use of a car or bikes. There is a bookshelf full of scifi/fantasy/nonfiction/mystery/travel/cooking etc. The kitchen is very well equipped. We have a gym upstairs with free weights …

There is a bookshelf full of scifi/fantasy/nonfiction/mystery/travel/cooking etc. The kitchen is very well equipped. We have a gym upstairs with free weights (barbell/dumbell), yoga mats, and a rowing machine. The terrace has a charcoal grill and patio tables/chairs. Swimming pool for the summer months. Entertainment options with our movie/tv services, fast unlimited wifi, desk and office space, and hopefully we'll have some bikes soon that you can use.

Our house is on a quiet cul-de-sac next to a beautiful canal and walking trail. Within 2km there are two grocery stores, a bakery, pharmacy, and some other pizza places/restaurants. Takeaway and Uber Eats can deliver food to our house. Within 9 minutes you can drive to the grand mall or downtown Mons. The house is very large and comfortable by Belgian standards, and is fairly easy to take care of. It has both heating and air conditioning, 2 toilets, two bath tubs, and a standing shower. Guests have their own bedroom and bathroom.

Tourism and Leisure

There are ample woods nearby to go for a hike in the forest. Belgium is relatively flat so they aren't mountainous hikes but the trails through the woods are excellent. It's 25 minutes to the Pairi Daiza Zoo. Visit Van Gogh's house near Mons. The city of Mons has great restaurants, bars, and an Opera House. The town square has various carnivals/festivals/christmas markets to visit, or if you're a history buff you'll love the museums showcasing the start and ending place of WWI.

Within an hour's drive you can get to various battlefields, see classic artwork in the museums in Brussels, enjoy the nightlife of Brussels, or see shows. Visit the beautiful cities of Belgium such as Ghent, Bruges, or Antwerp. It's only an hour to the city of Lille in France if you'd like to visit some French towns.

Assurément un séjour très très agréable que nous avons apprécié chez Elizabeth et Kyle en compagnie de Lucy leur adorable petite amie. A dire vrai Lucy est le chien le plus attachant que nous avons eu l'occasion de garder lors de nos nombreux home-sittings ,elle est si gentille !! Elizabeth et Kyle nous ont "ouvert" leur maison en toute confiance en prenant soin que nous nous y sentions bien et en nous permettant d'accueillir notre fils pour Noël. Nous les remercions encore vivement. Ce sont des personnes avec beaucoup de coeur que nous recommandons sans hésiter .Et pourquoi pas nous revoir pour un autre séjour dans l'avenir ! Lucy and her human family are just the loveliest, and we really enjoyed our short time in this happy home. Lucy was an abandoned rescue with no training but her life has been turned around by Kyle and Elizabeth. She is now a very well trained doggie who just wants to please. She has impeccable manners, whether in the house or out on walks. She loves human company and this sit is best suited to those who will spend lots of time with her. The house is very nice with comfortable facilities and is in a quiet cul-de-sac. Kyle and Beth are extremely well organised, showed great empathy and had anticipated everything we would need to know. They also quickly responded to some queries during the sit. Their great hospitality, kindness and chat straight from arrival made us feel comfortable and relaxed. We would certainly love to have the opportunity to spend time with Lucy again in the future.

Élisabeth et Kyle nous ont confié leur magnifique maison en toute simplicité. Elle se trouve dans un quartier résidentiel très calme près d'un beau canal, ce qui est idéal pour promener Lucy, le berger australien. C'est un chien adorable, calme et propre qui nous manque déjà. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour. Nous recommandons ces jeunes Américains à la communauté Nomador. Attention, ce serait mieux de pratiquer l'anglais pour pouvoir communiquer facilement. Si vous arrivez en soirée, il vaudrait mieux vous restaurer anticipativement. Merci Élisabeth et Kyle.
