We have two cats, both neutered. They need feeding feed in the morning and evening, emptying their trays of sawdust as necessary, and keeping in the house at night. One cat must stay in the house while we are away and their is plenty of room for him including a linked outdoor enclosure. Also, we feed a feral cat in the garden once a day, and feed garden birds (Oct-March only).There is a large enclosed garden. The vegetable garden, orchard and the large greenhouse need no attention. In hot, dry weather some garden tubs of flowers may need watering occasionally. There is plenty of space indoors and outdoors for you to relax, and interesting things to do locally in the daytime, and on evenings in Bagnoles if you like restaurants, the casino or the cinema.

We need someone to look after our two cats while we are in the UK for a week, visiting family at Christmas. Bagnoles is a small tourism town and an interesting place to spend Christmas. Local villages have illuminations.

We have an old farmhouse with four ensuite bedrooms, in addition to our apartment. There is a large sitting room/dining room/bar, and a kitchen-diner. There is private parking. Our large garden is managed for biodiversity, flowers, vegetables and fruit. There are two cats, one friendly, one shy. The house is in a quiet hamlet of 4 houses but is only 20 minutes walk from a lovely, small spa town with shops, many restaurants and a cinema. It is surrounded by miles of woodland with many walks. We have bikes for use. This would be a nice place for a holiday. We have lots of English books, CDs, DVDs, wifi, and an electric piano. The garden is enclosed and managed for birds and insects, with large trees, fruit trees and a pond. The front garden has a patio overlooking flowers, and other areas for outdoor eating. The mezzanine has table tennis and table football. For heating we have log fires and electric radiators. Except in winter, the nearest restaurant is 7 minutes walk. You could have a quiet week in the garden, walking from the house or cycling using our bikes. Or you could enjoy the tourist attractions of Bagnoles and southern Normandy/northern Mayenne, with woodlands, lakes, and chateaux. For entertainment we have many English language books, DVDs, and music CDs. Wifi.

Tourisme et loisirs

The Normandy coast is 90 minutes drive but only 7km away is a lake beach with a cafe, sports equipment, playground etc. Our small town, Bagnoles is surrounded by woodlands with trails, including one with zip-wires. There are several chateaux within an easy driving distance. Indeed, one of our neighbours, 1km away, is the 17c Chateau de Couterne, which you can walk around in its woodlands (but not go inside, as the Count and Countess live there). Bagnoles (20 minute walk) is a tourism attraction with a 19c chateau, parkland, woodland and cliffs; the town has a lake, casino, cinema, many restaurants (including a Michelin *), a large area of Belle Epoch mansions, and an Art Nouveau church, if you are interested in architecture or French culture. There is a great boulangerie in the village, and a newsagent, clothes and antique shops, and chocolate, wine and cheese shops in Bagnoles. Markets are twice a week. Indoor swimming is in nearby La Ferte Mace. Bagnoles has an outdoor pool, pétanque and tennis courts.

notre semaine de cet hiver s'est agréablement passé chez Stephen et Julia malgré le froid dans la région. nos Hôtes nous ont gentiment accueillis avec un repas chaleureux. la maison est vaste et très confortable. nous avons vraiment aimé nous occuper des deux petits chats , craintifs au départ puis devenant présents et familiers au fil des jours, sans oublier la présence des mésanges! merci encore. anne

We had a very good calm break at julia and Stephen home .We had to care about 2 cats with very different personalities and they became good friends of us.Julia and Stephen welcomed us with a lot of confidence they had prepared 2 useful noticies to teach us how to live with the cats and how to stay in their home and in addition a complete package of maps and turistical documents ..Home and garden were very plaisant we love our stay here thanks to Stephen and julia

Nous avons été très sensibles à l'accueil chaleureux que nous ont réservé Stephen et Julia. En plus de nous avoir accueillis autour d'un très bon déjeuner, Stephen et Julia ont pris le temps de nous faire faire un tour de Bagnoles de l'Orne afin que nous puissions nous repérer rapidement et nous ont indiqué les lieux où nous pouvions faire des courses, prendre un café, un repas ou encore nous promener. Leurs deux chats, Tiger et Gherkin, sont adorables et ce n'est aucunement une contrainte de s'occuper d'eux. La maison de Stephen et Julia est très agréable et propre. Le jardin, très fleuri, est magnifique ! En résumé, nous avons passé un excellent séjour !
