Our dog Lucy is an Australian Shepherd. She's pretty lazy when she's at home and generally sleeps under the bed or in her recliner. She's very friendly and loves being around people. She will go pee in the fully fenced backyard but she won't stay outside, she wants to be where the people are. She absolutely loves walks, so she will need one walk sometime before noon and another after 6pm. That's also the time she poops since she doesn't like doing that in her own yard for some reason... She's fine to be left alone for 6 hours after she's had a walk. She doesn't have any diet restrictions or medications, but we give her a glucosamine chew daily, which she enjoys. She's very smart and knows a lot of words/commands. You can set the rules if you want her to jump in bed with you or not. She will gladly cuddle if you allow her to.

Précisions sur les dates

We're interested in taking a short trip to Germany for a convention. Dates can be a little flexible, but sometime around this timeframe would be preferred. We can also overlap our time in the house if you/your family are ok on the guest bed/couch and don't need to use the master bed while we're home.

Logement

We are offering guests a large stand alone house that's 4km (2.8 miles) from the center of Mons. There is a beautiful canal with walking trail near the house, a bakery, and a lovely quiet neighborhood that's still near enough to the grand mall and city of Mons. There is a private guestroom with queen size bed, dresser, armoire, and bookshelf. There are two bathrooms and two toilets - guests can choose to use the guest bathroom or the main one. The kitchen is well equipped with an induction stovetop, microwave, toaster, Nespresso, panini press, and fridge/freezer. There is a pool for the warmer months, along with a grill and patio table/chairs. There is a 75” TV with an Apple TV connected so you can sign into Netflix or use our subscription services in the guest account. WiFi is very fast and you can setup your computer in a small office or wherever you choose. There is a bus stop across the street, trains at the Mons station, and we can negotiate potential use of a car or bikes.

There is a bookshelf full of scifi/fantasy/nonfiction/mystery/travel/cooking etc. The kitchen is very well equipped. We have a gym upstairs with free weights (barbell/dumbell), yoga mats, and a rowing machine. The terrace has a charcoal grill and patio tables/chairs. Swimming pool for the summer months. Entertainment options with our movie/tv services, fast unlimited wifi, desk and office space, and hopefully we'll have some bikes soon that you can use.

Our house is on a quiet cul-de-sac next to a beautiful canal and walking trail. Within 2km there are two grocery stores, a bakery, pharmacy, and some other pizza places/restaurants. Takeaway and Uber Eats can deliver food to our house. Within 9 minutes you can drive to the grand mall or downtown Mons. The house is very large and comfortable by Belgian standards, and is fairly easy to take care of. It has both heating and air conditioning, 2 toilets, two bath tubs, and a standing shower. Guests have their own bedroom and bathroom.

There are ample woods nearby to go for a hike in the forest. Belgium is relatively flat so they aren't mountainous hikes but the trails through the woods are excellent. It's 25 minutes to the Pairi Daiza Zoo. Visit Van Gogh's house near Mons. The city of Mons has great restaurants, bars, and an Opera House. The town square has various carnivals/festivals/christmas markets to visit, or if you're a history buff you'll love the museums showcasing the start and ending place of WWI.

Within an hour's drive you can get to various battlefields, see classic artwork in the museums in Brussels, enjoy the nightlife of Brussels, or see shows. Visit the beautiful cities of Belgium such as Ghent, Bruges, or Antwerp. It's only an hour to the city of Lille in France if you'd like to visit some French towns.

Beth and Kyle are fabulous hosts who will provide you will everything you need for a wonderful sit and make you feel right at a home! They kindly took us to & from the train station, we shared a Pizza together before they left, and were shown everything needed for house and pet care. Lucy is a very sweet, calm and friendly dog who is super easy to care for and we really enjoyed our time with her and exploring Mons & nearby cities. We also really appreciated having the use of their bikes to easily get to and from town. Thanks very much Beth and Kyle for your kindness, hospitality and for a lovely stay - we wish you all the best!

Bonjour. Lucy est comme on dit en français ''une crème''. Très facile à vivre avec un regard magnifique, elle vous suit partout et vous pouvez l' amener en ville ou en voiture ce qu' elle apprécie. Elle est très gourmande. Lol. Dans un magasin pas de soucis. J' ai gardé beaucoup de chiens et elle est sur le podium avec une médaille. Elisabeth et son mari ont tout fait pour que je sois à l'aise et nous avons partagé une pizza géante Un très bon séjour dans une grande maison super équipée dans un quartier résidentiel calme et vert. Un grand Merci à tous. Enrique.
